What is Stakeholder Centered Coaching?

Stakeholder centered coaching differs from traditional coaching practice in a couple of fundamental ways:

 1. The leader who is being coached is the owner of the coaching relationship and they reach out to key stakeholders within their organization for specific, actionable feedback aimed at helping them change a key leadership behavior or practice.

2. Stakeholders and the leader who is being coached agree that feedback will be listened to, received graciously and that feedback will be acted upon by the leader who is being coached. Studies have found that leaders are far more apt to listen and act upon feedback from key stakeholders than other types of feedback.

Of significance also is that this approach to coaching (as taught by Marshall Goldsmith) can help leaders repair relationships that may have been damaged. At its core, success in any enterprise is about the effective management and appreciation of relationships. That is what I help leaders of all types do.
